Peroni Swan 45 Class Dominate Class 1 on Final Day of Skandia Cowes Week PDF Print E-mail
ImageWISC (Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing), Glynn William’s Swan 45 racing at Skandia Cowes Week secured second place in IRC Class 1, 13th overall in Black Group and dominated the Nautor’s Swan Fleet to win the Nautor’s Swan Trophy with ease.

Over the course of Skandia Cowes Week WISC, one of the Peroni Swan 45 Class, has performed consistently with a race win on Tuesday backed up by six second place finishes while discarding a fourth place finish.

Glynn Williams said; ‘The Peroni Swan 45 Class is unique as it offers superb one design racing when raced as a fleet under class rules but is designed in such a way as to enable us to optimize the boat to race competitively when racing under IRC handicapping.’

McFly, owned and helmed by Tony Mack, outclassed IRC Class 1 on the final day winning by almost 5 minutes on corrected time in the very light and shifty conditions from Glynn Williams on WISC.

The partnership between Peroni Nastro Azzurro and Nautor’s Swan is proving to be a huge success amongst the one design Peroni Swan 45 Class.  Crews were given the opportunity to relax in a stylish environment at the Peroni Pier Bar following the completion of racing while enjoying a chilled Peroni Nastro Azzurro.

From Skandia Cowes Week, the Peroni Swan 45 Class will move on to the Rolex Swan Cup in Porto Cervo where thirty boats have already registered to compete in the biannual event.

The Peroni Swan 45 Class builds on the founding philosophy of Nautor’s Swan to create a successful, sustainable and professional class. The partnership positions Peroni Nastro Azzurro, SABMiller’s international premium brand, as sponsor of the Swan 45 Class, officially setting sail in the UK this week at Skandia Cowes Week, the world’s oldest and largest yachting regatta. Recalling an old association with sailing, the premium Italian beer sees the sponsorship as the beginning of a renewed long-term investment in the sport.
