Oban Marina Launches New Website and Change of Name PDF Print E-mail
Oban Marina Ltd announced today a change of name for Oban Yachts marina based on the Isle of Kerrera close to Oban on the West Coast of Scotland. The marina will now be known as Oban Marina and phase one of the long term development plan to upgrade the site has been successfully completed on time.

New Website: A completely new website has also been launched at the same time – www.obanmarina.com - is a clear, easy to navigate site which gives visitors an idea of the facilities available as well as the level of service and commitment they will receive.

New Team: A new team of friendly and highly experienced staff, headed by General Manager John Hunter, have been working hard to complete the first stages of the marina upgrade since taking ownership in May this year and to prepare the 25 acre site in time for the winter laying up season. Major work has included slipway re-furbishment and an extension of the boatyard with new drainage for hard-standing.

New Equipment: A 50 ton WISE travel lift arrived in mid September and is one of the largest boat lifts in the area. The marina now handles boats from 4.7m to 6.2m beam and can lift vessels up to 50 tons. The delivery of two high quality storage systems (Brownell boat stands from the USA and galvanized steel cradles specially designed by the Yacht Leg & Cradle Company from the UK) will also ensure secure storage for the winter boatyard season.

John Hunter commented: “We have carried out a vast amount of work upgrading the site, with an aim to provide boat owners with the most up-to-date facilities and services available. We have introduced competitive winter storage rates and with all the new boatyard facilities in place, we hope to attract new business over the winter months. We will continue with our programme of improvements and in the spring we will again increase our number of pontoon moorings all part of the process of working towards making Oban Marina into a first class facility.”
