Serious Business at the London Boat Show 2006 PDF Print E-mail

ImageThis January ExCeL will once again become the centre of the marine world as the 52nd London Boat Show in association with the Daily Mail brings together the largest, most varied selection of boats, marine equipment and watersports gear in the UK. Anybody that’s passionate about boating will be heading to this year’s Show, packed with more than ever for the dedicated boating enthusiast.

This year’s Show looks set to be bigger than ever, with all exhibition space already sold out. There will be over 700 exhibitors at the Show including 45 new companies exhibiting for the first time. There will be over 800 boats on the display at the show covering 80,000 m2 of exhibition space and 400m of dockside.

New for the 2006 London Boat Show:

1)  The Daily Mail
The Daily Mail is this year’s media partner for the London Boat Show.   The Daily Mail is the UK’s second biggest selling newspaper, reaching an audience often in excess of 3.2million* across the UK. An extensive joint promotional campaign will run across TV, radio, print, exhibitions and online media throughout November, December and January, culminating in what is thought to be the biggest ever reader promotion in association with the Show. As part of the partnership, a dedicated London Boat Show supplement will be published on Thursday 5 January in addition to further support from Classic FM.

2) Tailored media campaign
The London Boat Show 2006 media campaign is focused on engaging directly with boating enthusiasts through targeted direct mail and a series of carefully tailored campaigns in the specialist press to include sailing, motorboats, inland waterways, windsurfing, wakeboarding and canoeing.

3) London Boat Show Programme
North One TV will be making a one hour TV special on the London Boat Show 2006 for ITV 1, which will be shown at 2pm on Sunday 8th January.

The programme format will include an onsite studio where live interviews will take place in a similar style to Top Gear mixed with a selection of pre-recorded boating-related features.

4)  Specialist marine seminars
As part of a new initiative, National Boat Shows will be joining forces with IPC Media to host a series of marine related seminars in the central boulevard area. The British Marine Federation and National Boat Shows is also supporting the IPC Marine Awards taking place on the evening of 6 January.

5)  Waterside Property Exhibition
A Waterside Property Exhibition will be held for the first time in the East Hall from 6-8 January, where property experts will be on hand to advise visitors on aspects of waterside living.

6)  Fishing Exhibition
Also taking place in the East Hall is a brand new Fishing Exhibition; running from 12-15 January, bringing a whole new dimension to the London Boat Show. Everything a fishing enthusiast could wish for from rod upgrades through to waders will be available to buy.

ImageMaking a welcome return for 2006

1)  Watersports Arena
The sporting action will return to the East Hall’s 3,000 seater Watersports Arena which will host the National Canoe Polo Championships (6-8 January), the Open Indoor Wakeboarding Championships (9-12 January) and the London leg of the Professional Windsurfers Association Tour (12-15 January). Visitors will also be able to get out on the water themselves and try their hand at sailing, canoeing and windsurfing – all from the safety of the indoor pool.  Expert tuition and coaching tips will be on offer at all of the public participation sessions.

2)  Inland Waterways
The Waterscape.com Inland Waterways attraction supported by British Marine Federation, British Waterways and the Environment Agency also returns this January. The feature is dedicated to the world of canals, lakes, rivers and the Broads. With its life-size jetties and real-ale English country pub it provides the perfect retreat for those that want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the Show.

3) The Guinness Bar
Once again a corner of ExCeL will be transformed into the now famous Guinness Bar, the perfect place to enjoy a pint with old friends, share stories about the latest sailing adventures and relax after a hard day of spending.
