| Skandia Cowes Week announces Volkswagen as Official Vehicle Sponsor |

 Volkswagen is supporting Skandia Cowes Week in 2005 as the Event's Official Vehicle Sponsor with its luxury 4 x 4 Touareg. Volkswagen UK will be supplying Touareg models for use as event support and courtesy vehicles at the world's premier sailing regatta (30th July to 6th August 2005). Furthering its commitment and involvement with the sport, Volkswagen will also be the title sponsor of the Laser SB3 sailing series with the Touareg.As a result of this support, 50 Laser SB3's will sail under Touareg-branded sails at Skandia Cowes Week, also taking advantage of subsidised mooring from the company during the event that is expected to host around 1,000 yachts and 8,000 competitors. The Touareg's towing ability, along with its overall on and off road performance, make it the perfect car to meet the needs of those involved in sailing events. The natural fit between the car and the sport provided the foundation of the relationships between Volkswagen, Skandia Cowes Week 2005 and the Laser SB3 sailing series. The Touaregs have proved popular with the crews who have been using the vehicles in the build up to the event. Chris Blackburn, Laser SB3 Fleet Manager, remarked: “The Touareg has plenty of space for all the crew and the kit that we need, and it tows the Laser SB3 so well that at times you forget that it is there! “ In addition to the vehicle support Volkswagen is providing for the event, its presence will be enhanced by a Touareg display stand within Cowes Yacht Haven so that visitors to the event will have a great opportunity to take a good look at the vehicles for themselves. Skandia Cowes Week's commercial and marketing manager, Michelle Warner, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Volkswagen on board as a supporting sponsor. This is fantastic news for the event, and reinforces the commitment that the Volkswagen Touareg has to sailing. “ This great and unique sailing regatta has been held annually since 1826, attracting a wide range of competitors from amateurs to Olympic and World Champions.
