The Best January Sale in Town!
ImageWith Christmas over, it's time to start thinking of all those little jobs that need doing before the sailing season starts in a few months time, and where better to find inspiration, bargains and advice than the annual London Boat Show at Excel.

What's the point of going to the boat show if we don't buy a boat?
ImageOk, who has thought or heard that before? Well, this time I heard it from a small child, who was complaining loudly to his father, but it got me thinking, why do so many people go to the boat show, they can't all be shopping for a boat, or boat bits - I guess the answer for most is to drool over the latest offerings from the marine trade.

Sailing Watches for the Rest of us
ImageWhen you mention sailing watches, everyone has in mind the James Bond type, that are always being hawked in the Sunday colour supplements. Granted they are ideal for showing off in the yacht club, but are they really that practical? I don't doubt that they are well constructed, reliable and have lots of cool features, (waterproof to 12 Atmospheres, multiple time zones, stop watch, space time continuum worm hole finder etc.), but isn't it all a bit of an overkill?

The Brightest & The Best
ImageOver the years I've got through many torches, some ended up in the bilges, never to be seen again. Others seemed to eat batteries, like smarties, and some I ditched when the bulbs blew. The bulbs, for some unknown reason being more expensive to buy than the torch. Somewhere on my boat I have a torch, but at this moment in time, I couldn’t tell you exactly where! (which could mean it’s eroding quietly in the bilges). With this in mind, I was glad to have the opportunity to try out some of the torches available from H3.
